February in Amsterdam

 February facts
  • Tourist crowds are very low, an ideal situation for seeing the city's most popular museums and attractions.
  • Flights and hotel rooms are still at low-season prices.
  • February is one of the coldest months in Amsterdam. Wear warm clothing: A cold Amsterdam wind and temperatures hovering around freezing can feel bone-chilling. Layers of warm clothing are recommended.
  • Ice-skating rink at the Museumplein (in front of the Rijksmuseum).

On February 25, 1941 a general strike was organized during World War II in The Netherlands against the anti-Jewish measures and activities by the Nazis. This strike is remembered each year on February 25, with a march past the memorial the Dokwerker. All political parties, as well as the city public transport authorities and organisations of Holocaust survivors participate in the remembrance.
