Leidseplein (Leidse Square)

Packed between Vondelpark, Amsterdam's most important museums, several international hotels and the Leidsestraat shopping mall, Leidseplein has an atmosphere with a cosmopolitan character. Artists, tourists and business people from all over the world meet togetherto enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of beer, mixing with local Amsterdammers.

The square lights up in the evening and seems to invite the colorful crowds of people to enjoy the mixture of bizarre neon lighting, exotic scents and live music on offer. With hundreds of restaurants, bars, pubs, coffeeshops and popular clubs like the Melkweg and Paradiso as well as cinemas and theatres, the Leidseplein area is one of Amsterdam's most popular centres for nightlife. On warm summer evenings, tourists and locals alike take advantage of the pubs' outdoor seating for a long, lazy drinks with friends.
The Leidseplein area has an international allure and touch of exclusivity. Street musicians, jugglers, fire-eaters and other performers make the square a lively place until the early hours.
