NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky *****

Dam 9, Amsterdam (Dam Square, Old Centre) +31 20 5549111

Situated directly opposite the Royal Palace on the Dam right in the heart of Amsterdam. The most important shopping streets and department stores are located in the immediate vicinity.

NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky takes its name from its first owner. The hotel was established in 1866 by a Polish tailor Adolf Wilhelm Krasnapolski who arrived to the Netherlands only ten years earlier. Krasnapolski first opened a popular café, added rooms for rent to it and later rebuilt it into a modern hotel. It was the first hotel in Amsterdam to have - at the end of the 19th century - warm water in each of the rooms, equipped with telephones and already in 1883 electricity.

Facing the Royal Palace the hotel had such a success, that Krasnapolski bought 39 small houses in the area to build the biggest five star hotel in the Netherlands with 468 rooms, including a Tower Suite, 6 junior-suites, 36 apartments, three restaurants: the "Belle Epoque" style Reflet, Bedouin-style Shibli and Japanese Edo & Kyo. Every morning the breakfast takes place in the famous Winter Garden. Despite its size, it is warm and welcoming.
