The Museum of Bags and Purses is a unique museum with a collection covering the Western bag that ranges from the Middle Ages through to the present.

The bags give a fascinating picture of the great variety of function, form, kind material and sorts of decoration used through the centuries.

Exhibitions

Visitors will be able to see regular themed exhibitions, as well as the historical collection. The museum also plays a role in stimulating Dutch and international designers by organizing exhibitions of their work, and by selling their work in the museum shop and at the web shop.

The building

Tassenmuseum Hendrikje is housed in a historical building dating back to 1664. It has a café and a garden laid out in historical style. The building has fine period rooms with original ceiling paintings and mantelpieces dating back to the 17th century.
