Meaning of 'Bajes'

The word 'Bajes' has come to mean 'prison' in Dutch slang, but the original Yiddish meaning is actually 'home'. De Bajes is home to some of the world's most renowned street artists that have decorated the imposing walls into real works of art, which have an average price of around €50,000. In cooperation with urban contemporary art gallery Vroom & Varossieau , De Bajes will also host a variety of exhibitions for big names and up and coming street artists.

All-day menu

De Bajes opens its doors at 10:00 each morning of the week and offers an all-day menu. You can start the day with a full Bajes Breakfast Menu or an English Breakfast, which are available until 16:30 hours! At the end of Thursday and Friday evenings Amsterdam DJ's will turn the restaurant into a lively bar.
