Café de Toog

former hangout of rock 'n' roll star and painter Herman Brood

In the best part of Amsterdam Oud-West, just steps away from the Overtoom, the Vondelpark and the Wilhelmina Gasthuis grounds you will find Café de Toog.

The cafe is frequently visited by locals, but it is also a place where people from outside the neighborhood - and even from outside the city - come to relax and eat.

Its visitors are a good reflection of the neighborhood: people who have been living nearby since many years, newcomers, students and even tourists.

The authentic building from 1890 is cozy with dark wood, the original ceilings and chandeliers. The original Brood painting on the wall is there for a reason: De Toog was for years one of his hangouts. The tables are decorated by himself.

In summer there is a large outdoor terrace where you can enjoy the afternoon sun and the warm summer breeze. The café is at 5 minutes walking distance from the Ten Katemarkt.

Enjoy the real Amsterdam atmosphere at Café de Toog.
