Café 't Loosje
Built around 1900 and originally used as a waiting room for the horse-drawn tram.
Beautiful old-Dutch style pub with interesting tilework covering the walls and floor. One wall has a 3-metre wide depiction of an old brewery. Other tile art contains pictures of old products, the pub and its visitors during earlier centuries.
Good atmosphere, frequently visited by locals. Upstairs is a a billiard table where locals are playing billiard while enjoying their glass of beer.
't Loosje has a varied offering of beers. It's known for selling the local Amsterdam Brouwerij 't IJ beers, very tasty but stronger beers with names like Natte (6,5%), Zatte (8%), Columbus (9%), Struis (9%). In the summer you can sit outside and watch the passers-by at the Nieuwmarkt.
