Café Het Paleis

an oasis near bustling Dam Square, frequented by locals

Café Het Paleis is well-established bar where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. During the opening hours you can order everything from sandwiches and salads to soups and some hot dishes. Many Amsterdammers use it as a meeting place to have a drink with their friends.

Café Het Paleis is conveniently located on the Singel

Popular terrace

Het Paleis has an attractive outdoor waterside terrace on the 14th century Singel, where you can sit and relax while boats and people pass by. A nice place to have a coffee break or drink a glass of wine or beer while boats and people pass by.

Friendly breakfast place

Het Paleis is a good alternative for expensive hotel breakfasts in the surrounding area. The food and coffee are really good and the staff is friendly and professional. It's a relaxed place to start your day and make plans.

Het Paleis is situated in the lee of the busiest tourist areas of Amsterdam but it feels like you're miles away from the more commercial atmosphere of the tourist pubs, restaurants and shops surrounding the Dam Square. It is located right behind the Royal Palace on the Dam at the Singel, one of older canals dug for the defense of the city.

How to get there?

By tram: 1, 2, 5 or 14 stop Dam
By car: nearest car park De Bijenkorf
