The new extension of Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, designed by Benthem Crouwel, looks like an oversize shaped bathtub. The large snow white canopy contrasts with the rear of the old one, a beloved red-and-white-striped, late-19th-century Neo-Renaissance brick pile by Adriaan Willem Weissman.
'The Bathtub' ('De Badkuip' in Dutch), that floats above the glassed-in ground floor, includes extra exhibition space along with a restaurant, store and new entrance on the ground floor facing Museumplein.
