Each year in November de Bijenkorf, a high-end department store founded in 1870 on Dam Square, opens the festive season in a spectacular way. The department store gives a light theatre show as a celebratory gift to the city of Amsterdam.

The annual climax is the spectacular fireworks show and the lighting of the Christmas lights at the majestic facade of de Bijenkorf consisting of 600,000 LED lights.
