In January 2023, Amsterdam's largest bicycle parking facility opened under Stationsplein near Centraal Station. It replaces the iconic 3-storey Fietsflat (Bicycle Flat).
Parking in the garage is free for the first 24 hours, then €1.35 for each additional day. The parking is 9m (30ft) below street level. Visitors use moving walkways to bring their bikes down.
It is not the largest underground bicycle parking in the world. That one is in Utrecht with space for 12,500 bikes.
A new bike shed with space for 4,000 bikes will also open on the other side of the IJ in Amsterdam Noord in mid-February.
