Dutch Queen Beatrix was married in this hotel. Michael Jackson slept here.

The current 5 star Hotel Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam used to be a monastery, an inn, accommodated the Admiralty during the 17th century, and became the new city hall in 1808 - when the City Hall on Dam Square had to be cleared by order of Louis Napoleon Bonaparte in order to be used as a royal palace - until its removal to the Stopera in 1988. The courtyard of The Grand is grand. Within the peace prevails. The impressive building is elegantly furnished. French classic with modern elements.
